There is something very elegant & unique about Opaline Parakeets – the same can be said about Paris. This petite bird has elements seen on the façades of Haussmann architecture that lines the boulevards of Paris. The square-like patterns on the chest & belly of the parakeet is a gentle re-interpretation of an aereal view of the ‘Place de Vosges’ in the famous ‘Les Marais’ quarter. The laurel leafs with its’ berries seen on the wing of the parakeet, is seen in many occasions in Paris, from jewelry to architecture but not to forget the crown of Napoleon. One of the many symbolisms of this leaf was victory & glory. The colors coral, pastel yellow, lime green, remind of the beginning of spring. The golden details on the painting bejewel the petite parakeet.
